What are the chemical composition, raw material origin, and molecular characteristics of the active ingredient?
Chemically, Hebeatol® Plus is a sugar ester (amphiphilic non-ionic surfactant) obtained through the reaction of xylitol, derived from cereal by-products such as corn cobs, with caprylic acid, sourced from sustainable plant oils with RSPO certification.
It has a Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance (HLB) value of 7.5 and a micellar hydrodynamic radius (Rh) of 64 nm. Its amphipathic nature allows it to be present in both the aqueous phase and at the oil-water interface, where microbial growth is particularly critical.
What are the additional benefits of Hebeatol® Plus beyond its antimicrobial activity?
Due to its amphiphilic sugar ester structure, Hebeatol® Plus also acts as an emollient, solvent, solubilizer, and co-emulsifier.
In addition, it has demonstrated in vivo efficacy in restoring the skin barrier. In Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL) assessments using a Tewameter® 300, after 7 days of use at 1.5%, Hebeatol® Plus provided a 21% reduction in TEWL compared with the placebo.
